We would like to acknowledge and pay respect to the Traditional Custodians of all the Lands on which we work and reside: the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation and the Gammeraygal People of the Darug Nation. We would also like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the various Lands from which this research was made, written, and created, and we pay our respects to those Elders past, present, and emerging. Indigenous sovereignty was never ceded and this land always was and always will be Indigenous Land.
We are a female-driven creative agency based in Sydney that prides ourselves on individuality and the power of women – especially in design.
Our studio principals drive the ways in which we work collaboratively as a team — especially during this remote period. We uphold genuine respect and value for each other's ideas and design creativity. We believe honest feedback and open communication are powerful tools that can help drive any project toward true success for both the designer and the client.
The following project was made possible through a program run by the University of Technology Sydney. The EmpowerHouse Studio was created solely for this project and the collaboration with DV West for this program.
To understand our client on a deeper level, rather than simple research, we conducted several exercises to immerse ourselves in who DV West is, what they do, and why they do it.

Often beliefs around domestic violence are misconceived and misunderstood. Consequently, women feel powerless, criticised, and demoralized.
‘Re-framing the Narrative’ aims to empower and give a voice back to women who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence. This concept is expressed through ideas of re-framing the language around Domestic Violence, reshaping misconceptions, re-educating women and the public, re-discovering self-identity, and re-claiming their independence.

I would like to acknowledge and pay respect to the Gammeraygal People of the Eora Nation whose Country I live and work on. I acknowledge their connection to the waterways and lands, and their connection to each other and their neighbours. I pay my respects to the Elders past and emerging, whose knowledge and spirit are ever-lasting. Sovereignty was never ceded – it always has been and always will be Indigenous Land.
