Outdoor Advertising

JCDecaux specialises in innovative Out-of-home advertising for brands, communities and cities. As a part of the Australian design team, I had the chance to work on creative briefs for well known and local brands, government bodies, new products and upcoming movies.

The most common type of brief I worked on were Creative Solutions – out-of-home advertising that utilises additional builds to create a more immersive experience. After being briefed in by the Creative Solutions team, I would create mockups on the required sites, often using brand imagery found on the brand’s website to bring new ideas and executions to life.

With these mockups added to their slides decks, the sales team could more effectively persuade the client to lock in the advertising. Hearing feedback from the sales team that the mockups won the deal was one of the most rewarding parts working in the design team at JCDecaux.

This brief was unique as the client had asked for new creatives to be made based off of rough moodboards they provided. The headline ‘Feel the strength’ was to be used while the copy could be adjusted to suit the creative. Across the various deliverables, they wanted us to showcase a couple of different creative approaches to show how their branding could work in different contexts. Two main approaches were a) family-orientated with a baby/child lifting a couch, and b) individual-portfolio-orientated with a person pushing a boulder up a hill.

I would like to acknowledge and pay respect to the Gammeraygal People of the Eora Nation whose Country I live and work on. I acknowledge their connection to the waterways and lands, and their connection to each other and their neighbours. I pay my respects to the Elders past and emerging, whose knowledge and spirit are ever-lasting. Sovereignty was never ceded – it always has been and always will be Indigenous Land.
